London:
Bosses at a firm in Britain judged potential female recruits by their bra size rather than their abilities, a media report said Thursday.
Manager Pete Smith and his deputy Kevin Ward discussed candidates' curves in front of the sales team before offering them jobs, an employment tribunal heard.
The crude banter was said to be part of a "male-dominated culture" at Chesterfield marine supplies firm Cathelco, according to the express.co.uk.
Former sales executive Angelina Ashby, 41, claims she became an office outcast after objecting to bawdy antics. She has told how Smith chased a pretty female colleague around the office, put her over his knee and spanked her on the bottom.
On Wednesday, Alina Taylor told the Sheffield tribunal she left the firm after a 10-month affair with Smith ended, claiming he became "completely unreasonable".
"Pete and Kevin would often talk about the girl's bra size as being criteria for employment.
"It was also very apparent that pretty girls would always get jobs at Cathelco," the report quoted her as saying.
Cathelco has rejected Ashby's claims. Smith insists she became "unmanageable" after he rebuffed her advances. He says her complaints started after she sent him a Valentine card and her feelings were not reciprocated.
