Brazen helicopter heist, suspects plead innocent

Sweden: Ten men accused of stealing nearly 5 million dollars in a commando-style raid of a Swedish cash depot pleaded innocent as prosecutors opened their trial with spectacular surveillance video of the brazen helicopter heist.

It was a theft worthy of a spy thriller. Ten men are accused of stealing five million dollars in a commando-style raid that even included a helicopter. The money was stolen from a Swedish cash depot.

Now the men are going on trial in Sweden but they have pleaded innocent.

The surveillance footage is from September 2009 where the bandits, clad in black, can be seen breaking into the cash centre from the roof of the building. They used a power cutter to get to the money.

No employees of  the cash centre were harmed but several suspects are still at large says the Police.

A lawyer for the alleged helicopter pilot says that although his client is a good pilot he does not have training to fly at night and would not have been able to land in this way.

The trial comes after one of the largest police investigations in Swedish history, but even now, the police have yet to recover any of the cash.
