Baloch leader, three others killed in Pakistan

Islamabad: A senior Baloch nationalist leader and three others were shot dead by unidentified gunmen in the restive Balochistan province of southwest Pakistan today.

Balochistan National Party leader Jumma Khan Raisani, his bodyguard, driver and another person were gunned down in Khuzdar city this afternoon. The gunmen escaped after the attack.

The gunmen struck as Raisani was returning home after offering Friday prayers. He was attacked near his residence, police said.

Police cordoned off the area and launched a search for the gunmen.

The killings created tension in the city.

No group claimed responsibility for the attack.

Balochistan has been wracked by sectarian and ethnic violence over the past few years.
Several nationalist groups are waging a violent campaign demanding greater autonomy for the province.
