Giriraj Singh, a union minister, has made a shocking statement about Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, declaring "If Rajiv Gandhi hadn't married a white-skinned woman, the Congress would not have made her President." The remarks are being criticised by political parties as well as activists.

The Congress strongly deprecates and condemns the intemperate and distasteful remarks of Union Minister Giriraj Singh bordering on insanity. It appears that continuous quest to appease Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made him lose his balance. Such remarks are reflective of lack of moral fiber in BJP and its cadre.

Sharad Yadav made such remarks a few days ago. It is a racial comment. Goa chief minister said a few days ago that the nurses should not be protested because their colour might darken and they might find it a task to get married. This is a worrying, we need a code of conduct for this.

He should definitely be castigated enough so that he never makes such a comment. He should lose his job. He deserves to be sacked, regardless whether he appologises or not, but an apology is a start. It is a personal comment on a lady who has a standing in the country. She is a leader in her own right. Even if this comment was for any other woman in this country, he should be punished.
