PK, starring Aamir Khan, beat another Aamir Khan film, Dhoom: 3, to become one of the highest grossing film in Indian cinema. In 2013, Dhoom: 3 shattered all records when it earned a mighty Rs 284.27 crores. Trade sources say that PK has already crossed that amount and the film could be the first to enter the Rs 300 crore club if the footfalls in multiplexes continue.

Aamir Khan's PK may fetch upto Rs 85 crores in satellite rights for the makers but on the condition that the film mints over Rs 300 crores at the box office. Aamir's last release Dhoom: 3 had fallen slightly short of the mark. Satellite rights pricing for films do depend on their box office performances with the only exception being those featuring Salman Khan. The rights for all his releases from 2012 till 2017 were bought by a leading channel for a figure close to Rs 500 crores.
