Groundbreaking Games For Indian Women At 2016 Rio Olympics
Three women made India proud at the Rio Olympics 2016. Two went on to win medals while a third missed one by a whisker. Hyderabad's PV Sindhu became the first Indian woman to win an Olympics silver while Haryana's Sakshi Malik overcame prejudice to become India's first medallist with a freestyle wrestling bronze. Agartala girl Dipa Karmakar became the first Indian to enter the final of a gymnastics event.

Sakshi Malik, who won the bronze medal in wrestling freestyle 58kg event at the Rio Olympics 2016, returned to India to a hero's welcome. Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar felicitated Sakshi Malik in Bahadurgarh. She was named the 'Beti Bachao' ambassador of Haryana.
