Thousands of young Chennaites gathered at the Marina Beach today to protest against the ban on Jallikattu, a bull-taming sport that was banned by Supreme Court in 2014. The courts have refused to revoke the ban and the protests started after some people were arrested in Madurai for organising it during Pongal celebrations. Sasikala, the General Secretary of ruling AIADMK wants to instead ban the animal rights organisation PETA from Tamil Nadu, who had lobbied hard to enforce the ban.
