On The Townhall, former Finance Minister P Chidambaram says the Congress will support the BJP if it brings amendments to the retrospective tax and MAT in Parliament. Retrospective tax was "not a very wise decision" of the UPA, he said and that he would have scrapped it with 282 majority in Parliament. "I told Mr Jaitley, please do it, you have 282," he said. Mr Chidambaram questioned the delay in implementation of One Rank One Pension saying his government had taken the final step and allocated Rs 500 crore as were demanded by the Defence Ministry. "If I was doing the calculations today with the officers, I will work round the clock and I will do it in two weeks. I will, therefore, give them (government) four weeks (to implement OROP)," he said. Talking about his own party, Mr Chidambaram said Sonia Gandhi is still "numero uno and I think she will remain numero uno as long as she is in active politics. Even if Mr Rahul Gandhi takes over as president, I think he will defer to Mrs Gandhi's advice."  (Read transcript here)
