Arvind Subramanian, Chief Economic Advisor to the government of India, spoke exclusively with NDTV on the Narendra Modi government's one year in office. He conceded that the row over Minimum Alternative Tax (MAT) has hurt the image of the government, which he said has, "learnt the lesson" and "will make sure this doesn't happen again". He also batted for FDI in retail saying, "You have to create an infrastructure so that private markets can flourish in agriculture" and "something that should be part of the equation is can we get private sectors to invest in this infrastructure. And if that's necessary, we should have domestic private sector doing it, maybe we should have the foreign private sector doing it."
