A big fight seems to have broken out between the Election Commission and the government of India, more precisely the Congress party. The poll panel has hauled up at least three Congress ministers and have just sent a showcause notice to Sri Prakash Jaiswal accusing him of intimidating voters. There are also reports that the government and the Congress party are striking back at the Election Commission and are, according to some reports, seeking to curtail its power especially as far as the model code of conduct is concerned.
