The ripples of the massive 8.6 earthquake in Indonesia were also felt in India with a tsunami alert being issues in the states across the eastern coast. Tremors were also felt across many Indian cities like Kolkata and Chennai. As the government prepared to handle a possible emergency, it brought back fears of the devastating tsunami of 2004 that ravaged large swathes in the two southern states.
