The government's approach to the issue of farmer suicides is under the scanner once again. Ironically, this time the authority implementing the Rs 60,000-crore loan-waiver package has found that after loan waiver, the number of suicides have not gone down as much as expected. The agrarian crisis in Vidarbha's cotton country shows little signs of abating despite what the government has called special efforts.
