There has been political violence near Kolkata, following the brutal killing of two CPM workers. The two workers were first shot, and then hacked to death at Durganagar railway platform in North 24 parganas, near the West Bengal capital. While Sujit Dasgupta died on the spot, Shambhu Dasgupta died in the hospital.
