19-year-old Manipuri student Richard Loitam was found dead in his hostel room in Bangalore under mysterious circumstances. His family and friends allege that he was brutally assaulted by his seniors. Earlier Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma had alleged that discrimination had driven his niece to commit suicide. We debate if there is a strong bias towards students from the North-East in the country.
