SR Bannurmath would have been Karnataka's next Lokayukta if the state government had had its way. But Governor Bharadwaj refused to sanction that appointment. And an emotional Justice Bannurmath told reporters in Bangalore that he has requested Chief Minister D V Sadananada Gowda not to consider him for the post so as to fill up the position expeditiously.
