Is the Food Bill going the Lokpal way?

The focus for all these weeks has been the Lokpal Bill, but there's another important, rather controversial piece of legislation, that was tabled in the Lok Sabha in the winter session. The Food Security Bill has a hugely ambitious aim to guarantee subsidized food for more than 62% of India's population. The total cost of implementation, according to the government, will be 3.5 lakh crores. But it's already run into rough weather. Several economists have said the government cannot afford the cost, and now, some political parties and states have expressed reservations. So is there a danger that the Food Bill will go the Lokpal way?
