India, apart from Israel, is the only country in the world ensconced in a volatile neighbourhood, surrounded by some hostile neighbours with whom India has fought three wars in its 66-years of existence. Did India fail to gauge these threats during the early years of its independence? Did it conduct its diplomacy accordingly or was India's foreign policy dictated by high and lofty ideals of non-alignment movement? Did our strategic and military preparations take a hit due to India's idealistic analysis of geo-strategic relations?
