Gearing itself up for the Lok Sabha elections late on Thursday night, the Congress carried out a major organisational reshuffle, changing work allocation of nine general secretaries. The biggest surprise has been Margaret Alva who has been brought in from the cold and made a member of the screening committee. Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, known within the party as the man with the midas touch, is back as party general secretary and has been given charge of four states - Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Orissa and Pondicherry.
