After a series of freebies like colour televisions and gas stoves, the ruling DMK government in Tamil Nadu has turned to some healthy sops. Just a few months before the Lok Sabha polls, the government has come out with a free health insurance policy. Over one crore poor families in Tamil Nadu would soon get a free health insurance cover for treatment upto Rs 1 lakh a year in private and government hospitals.
