In one of the most ambitious projects of the government, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has announced Direct Cash Transfers that will convert subsidies in kind to cash that will be transferred to bank accounts of poor families via the Aadhar scheme. The PM says the scheme will open the doors for eliminating waste, cutting down leakages and help in targeting the beneficiaries better.
