In Khammam, the Lok Sabha constituency of Women and Child Welfare Minister Renuka Choudary, a Dalit woman Rajitha sold her one-day-old baby for Rs 6,000. The 20-year-old had no money to either pay the fee demanded at the government hospital where she gave birth nor was she confident that she can earn and look after her baby boy.
