A college student from Guwahati has taken his parents to court alleging that they are trying to prevent him from a sex-change operation. Bidhan Barua has told the Bombay High Court that his parents, who live in Guwahati, have threatened doctors at the Saifee Hospital where he was scheduled to undergo a sex change surgery later this month.
