The richest mangrove forest in the world the Sundarbans. The Sundarbans Tiger Reserve is in the most unique landscape and environment in India. It is home to nearly 100 tigers. In this special episode of the Aircel-NDTV Save Our Tigers Campaign we go deep into the islands in the bay of Bengal to uncover the myth of the man-eating tiger, to reveal the impact made by the Rapid Response Unit Boats provided by the contributions of the 1st telethon and to see how the local communities are benefiting in this harsh environment thanks to tourism and other initiatives being provided by the forest department. Man-Animal conflict still remains a big issue in this area of the West Bengal but the measures being taken provide hope that mitigation measures if strengthened could reduce conflicts. Gargi Rawat unravels the story of the endangered River Terrapin and the breeding initiative that has been started to save the species. The episode also looks at the Legend of Bon Bibi and the way in which the Mangrove forests of Sundarbans save the hinterland from sea storms and tidal suges.
