Peace in North-East: Is there a long-term solution?

A Central government note alleges that the current spate of violence along the Assam-Nagaland border began with a land dispute between two men - a Naga and an Assamese - which was fanned by social activists and politicians, with insurgent outfits in both states jumping in. The note blames the local Congress in the area of organising a huge protest and fuelling tensions when Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi visited. For now, 200 companies of central paramilitary forces are already deployed in the area to help control the situation from deteriorating further. This is an old dispute, from the time state borders were drawn. So we ask, what long-term solutions are possible for peace between states in the north-east?

NDTV Exclusive: Aparna Sen on her role in Saradha

Also on the show tonight, we speak exclusively to filmmaker and writer Aparna Sen in Kolkata. Ms Sen was interviewed by the Enforcement Directorate earlier this week for information on the Saradha chit fund, and its director Sudipta Sen who has been charged with large-scale embezzlement by floating ponzi schemes. Ms Sen was hired by the Saradha group as the editor of its periodical, Parama but Saradha's links with the ruling Trinamool Congress mean that all those associated with the group are also under intense scrutiny.
