The death of 18 soldiers in Uri attack this month, is perhaps the most belligerent attack staged by Pakistan-based terrorists during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's regime. PM Modi, who had caustically remarked on the soft posturing of the UPA government during terror attacks, now finds himself in a unenviable position where under immense pressure from public and political parties, he has to match up his rhetoric or come up with a solution that serves him to contain the surge of domestic anger against India's neighbour. Pathankot attack sounded the death knell of the peace process that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had begun early in his tenure. Now after the barbaric attack in Uri, is a military strike the only option? Or should India consider covert, targeted attacks in Pakistan? Does India have the covert capabilities to hurt Pakistan? Has the diplomatic push by the Modi government yielded any result? Will the world, especially the US, put pressure on Pakistan to take action against radical anti-India elements? Or despite being labelled as a 'soft' state time and again, India will have to fall back upon the very well-traversed road of condemning Pakistan's terror activities by opening a new channel of dialogue?
