Criticising the government's move to ban old 500 and 1,000 rupee notes, Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh said it would hurt the GDP, joining a band of economists who have voiced similar concerns over the demonetisation move. When asked about such predictions, Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, however, had little concern for their views. "Where were these economists before?" she said.
