Thousands of people, mostly students and young professionals, have gathered since last night at Chennai's famous Marina Beach in protest to bring back Jallikattu or the bull-taming festival. They have refused to leave till the ban on Jallikattu is lifted; Urjit Patel, the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, today told a parliamentary committee that since the notes ban was introduced in November, 9.2 lakh crores (about $135 billion dollars) of new currency notes have been introduced to help replace the bills that were abolished; Movie star Salman Khan was given the benefit of doubt today by a court in Rajasthan's Jodhpur, which held him "not guilty" of keeping an unlicensed weapon and using it during an alleged deer hunt in 1998.
