Bapurao Tajne looks down at his hands, tired with blisters, with discernible pride. For 40 days, in heat that refused to move south of 40 degrees, he spent his days raising his axe to the sun, and then bringing it down. Six hours a day, over and over, the same steady motion, sweat flowing across his body.
