The BJP's most vocal and belligerent opponent today, Mamata Bannerji, and her Trinamool Congress is now in the eye of the latest storm over corruption and bribery. The Calcutta High court has handed over the investigation into the Narada News sting that recorded video tapes of TMC leaders accepting cash bribes to the CBI. The court handed over all recorded video tapes and the camera used, to the agency, and has given it 72 hours to file a report. A defiant West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who had won the 2016 elections by a landslide soon after this sting operation, had pledged to have state police investigate but opposed it going to the CBI. Today the court observed that the state police that has been conducting the investigation so far was at best "puppets" and transfered the case to the CBI. A furious Mamata Bannerji has accused the BJP of a conspiracy and pledged to fight the charges legally and politically. (Video courtesy: Narada News)
