A special court in Mumbai has framed charges against gangster Ravi Pujari in a case related to the 1999 murder of an alleged member of fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's gang.

Two shooters of the Ravi Pujari gang were arrested by the Anti Extortion Cell (AEC) from Thane, an official said today.

Four associates of gangster Ravi Pujari have been arrested for allegedly making extortion calls to a businessman and builders, police said.

Police say gangs are targeting high-profile stars in order to boost credibility when trying to extort cash from even wealthier people.

Seven members of a gang arrested this week in Mumbai were reportedly planning to target primary players in Bollywood including actor Shah Rukh Khan, director Farah Khan, and director-producer Mahesh Bhatt, said police sources today.
