The Centre today said it would not like to interfere in the construction of a memorial in the Golden Temple for those killed during the Operation Bluestar by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbhandhak Committee (SGPC), respecting the rights of such organisations bestowed by the Constitution.

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today sought to distance himself and the state government from the construction of Operation Blue Star' memorial in Amritsar by radical Sikh groups. He said it was a project of the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) and Damdmi Taksal (a radical Sikh group).
