Less congestion in Delhi owing to the odd-even car rationing scheme is shielding people from "direct exposure" to pollutants, especially in and around areas of high car density such as traffic junctions, experts opine.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking his cooperation on the 'odd-even' number vehicles initiative to bring down pollution levels in the capital, and said directives or a public appeal by him in this regard would have a "major impact".

The Delhi government detailed its ambitious plan to curb pollution through the odd-even number plate formula. Privately-owned cars with registration that ends with an odd number will be allowed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday while even-numbered will get Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
