Seven months after Maval firing incident in which three farmers were killed and nine were injured when police fired upon protesters, Pune rural police has arrested 47 persons for attacking the police.

Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi on Thursday quietly arrived in Maval sub-district here in Maharashtra where three farmers were killed in police firing on August 9, official sources said.

The situation in Maval in Pune is peaceful and under control, a day after three persons was killed there in the police firing when a farmers' protest against a dam water pipeline project turned violent. A magisterial inquiry had been ordered into the firing, District Collector Vikas Deshmukh said.
