Aligarh, the movie based on the life of gay professor of the AMU University is now facing an opposition from city Mayor Shakuntala Bharti and student body , who says the movie is an attempt to "defame" the city.

"This is Hansal Mehta's idea, we don't want to dirty our city with these posters, and we have been promoting with our own efforts till now, and this is one method to promote the film among the people," Manoj Bajpayee said. The actor plays a gay professor in the Hansal Mehta-directed film
