For more than 24 hours, Manoj Goel, a senior advocate in the Supreme Court, has been stranded in Uttarakhand with 3000 others. They are stuck in the pilgrim town of Gangotri, where Mr Goel had attended a local festival. This is his story.

Nearly 5,500 people, most of them pilgrims, remain stranded in the Kedarnath region of Uttarakhand, which has been pounded by heavy rain since Saturday night. Another 15,000 are stuck at Badrinath and nearby areas.
