The Union Cabinet met this evening to discuss the deregulation of diesel prices, sources told NDTV. Deregulation would mean the prices of diesel will move as per market flow - just like petrol. It would also ease the government's subsidy burden.

Diesel Prices Might Drop By Rs 2.50/litre After State Polls

A Rs 2.50 per litre cut in diesel prices and a little less than Re 1 a litre on petrol is in offing as international oil rates fell to a 27-month low. Prices may be cut after Maharashtra and Haryana assembly elections are completed on October 15.
