The body of the last missing person in the boat tragedy was recovered from the Brahmaputra river in Assam on Tuesday, a week after the accident, raising the death count to three, an official said.

The body of one more person who went missing after a boat accident in Assam's Nimatighat has been recovered on Saturday morning.

The body of one of the two missing victims of the boat disaster at Nimati Ghat in Assam's Jorhat district was recovered four days after the incident near Biswanath Ghat, about 100 km downstream of the Brahmaputra river from the accident site.

The Assam Cabinet on Thursday decided that Additional Chief Secretary Maninder Singh will conduct the inquiry into the boat tragedy in which one person died and two others went missing, and submit a report within a month, a minister said.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over the phone and pledged full support to the state government in conducting rescue operations after a boat accident in Jorhat, according to the Assam CMO.
