A day after approaching the Tihar Jail authorities seeking handing over of Afzal Guru's body to his family, two lawyers ND Pancholi and Nandita Haksar representing them today withdrew as their counsel, citing "unseemly controversies" and "suspicion" by certain political groups in Kashmir. Citing "unseemly controversies", ND Pancholi and Nandita Haksar on Wednesday quit as the family lawyers of Afzal Guru, the Parliament attack convict who was hanged on February 9.

Afzal Guru's family has rejected govt's offer to visit his grave at the Tihar Jail in Delhi, where the convict in 2001 Parliament attack case was hanged and buried on Saturday. In a letter addressed to the DG Prisons on behalf of Guru's family the lawyers requested his body be returned to the family along with his belongings and arrange for prayer ...
