A chain-snatching incident has been reported in the Padmanabhaswamy temple which has been put under heightened security vigil following the unearthing of a treasure trove.
The chain was snatched from a woman devotee yesterday while she was waiting for 'darshan' in front of the sanctum sanctorum of the temple which has been witnessing an unprecedented rush of devotees following the surfacing of the priceless assets during an inventory, police said.
The incident caused some anxiety to temple authorities as it happened despite the presence of heavy security.
According to temple sources, the number of people, especially from northern states visiting the shrine, had increased after the treasure was found inside the shrine managed by a trust controlled by erstwhile Travancore Royal family.
