Set Up Disaster Management Committee For Telangana, Says BJP

State should make a comprehensive plan for the development of Hyderabad, said Telangana BJP

Hyderabad: The BJP today demanded that the Telangana government constitute a disaster management committee for the city as well as the state to deal with disasters like heavy rains.

The state government should take preventive measures and make a comprehensive plan for the development of Hyderabad, Telangana BJP president and MLA K Laxman told reporters Hyderabad.

He alleged that the state government has failed in taking up relief measures following the heavy rains that wrecked havoc in the state, including the city, during last few days.

He asked if it was not the fault of the state government to regularise unauthorised constructions in the 'Buffer Zone' under its building regularisation scheme.

He charged that the state government diverted the funds allocated to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) under the 13th Finance Commission.

The state government has also diverted the funds of GHMC for other allegedly unrelated purposes, he claimed.

Nothing that the BJP MLAs from the city have explained the situation following rains to Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu, Laxman said the Centre would help the state government if it submitted comprehensive reports.

Referring to the recently concluded BJP's National Council Meeting in Kerala, he said the national leaders have exhorted the parties Telangana unit to work with the aim of coming to power in the 2019 Assembly elections.
