Chennai: The opposition PMK in Tamil Nadu has accused Sports Minister S Sunderaraj of inappropriate behaviour with sportswomen during a visit to a hostel in Puddukottai and has demanded that he be sacked.

The video, shown by local channels, shows the minister visiting the hostel and speaking to the students. NDTV does not vouch for the authenticity of the video.

The minister and his party, the ruling AIADMK, are yet to respond to the PMK's accusations. AIADMK spokesperson C R Saraswathi said, "We are yet to see the video".

The minister apparently was conducting a surprise inspection of the hostel on March 3, which houses state-level sportspersons.

The PMK said he had entered the women's hostel rooms at night without any women official accompanying him and inappropriately touched a student and tugged her T shirt.

In the purported video, the minister is heard telling one student, "You have gained weight, does your mother know?" Following a muted response from the student, he is heard saying, "Only your dad knows? Doesn't your mother live with your dad?"

Inside what appears the hostel room, he is also heard telling the women, "We pay Rs 900 for your shoes Rs 250 for your food daily. What does it mean if you don't win any gold after we feed you?"

In a statement, PMK chief Anbumani Ramadoss called it "inappropriate and suspected drunken behaviour" on part of the minister.  He has demanded his removal from the cabinet.
