Legislator Demands Assembly Session to Discuss Demand For Grants

The Tamil Nadu Secretariat, which houses the state Assembly.

Coimbatore:

Puthiya Tamizhgam (PT), today, demanded that the state Assembly be reconvened to discuss demand for grants for each department to enable political parties take various problems and get funds allocated for schemes.

"The government has adjourned the budget session, without announcing a date after passage of vote on account, with some expectations," PT President K Krishnasamy, MLA, told reporters.

Unless there was a debate on the problems being faced by the voters and their needs, the government cannot allocate adequate funds and in this background the Governor should take steps to convene the session,  he said.

Extending support to the agitation by noon meal workers and transport workers, over their demands for wage settlement, he said his party would stage demonstrations across the state on April 30 expressing solidarity with them.

On the killings of 20 Tamil labourers in Andhra Pradesh, Mr Krishnasamy wanted the Tamil Nadu Government to implead in the case pending before the high court of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

He said a two-day political conference of party's newly elected office bearers, delegates and invitees would be held in Chennai from May 2.
