The cocaine seizure was made by the Narcotics Control Bureau in Vellore
Authorities in Tamil Nadu have seized close to 1 kg of cocaine that was being transported by four men on two motorcycles. The haul is estimated to be worth about a crore rupees.
The seizure was made by the Narcotics Control Bureau in Vellore District, about 150 km from Chennai. The four men transporting the cocaine have been arrested.
"We recovered this during a vehicular search, following a tip off. We suspect this was on its way to Chennai," said Kamalakannan, a local police official.
Investigators say the four arrested men - Zahir Hussein, Hameed, Vimal Raj and Dinakaran - are first-time offenders. They are on the lookout for another man who operated them.
Last month, the CEO of multinational company was arrested in Chennai for possession of around four grams of cocaine, worth twenty thousand rupees. Police caught him red-handed, when he collected the consignment from Bangalore at a courier center.
