11-Year-Old Girl Tries To Stab Teacher Allegedly On Mom's Orders

After the police was called in they tried to take the girl to the police station, but released her after her mother protested.

Ramanathapuram: An 11-year-old schoolgirl in Tamil Nadu tried to stab her teacher with a chisel on instructions from her mother, after they got into an argument, police said today.

The teacher, who had asked the parent to meet the headmaster after the girl had skipped class the previous day, managed to overpower her.

Police said the Class 6 girl of a school in Ramanathapuram in south Tamil Nadu had left school yesterday without informing her teacher.

Fearing that her teacher would reprimand her, she brought her mother with her to the school. The teacher asked both of them to meet the headmaster and take his permission to attend classes.

An enraged mother entered into a heated argument with her and asked her daughter to pounce on the teacher and stab her, police said.

The teacher raised an alarm when the girl rushed towards her with the chisel and informed the headmaster.

After the police was called in they tried to take the girl to the police station, but released her after her mother protested.

Later a woman Inspector and woman Sub-Inspector questioned the mother and daughter, who alleged that the teacher was "targeting" them and they were being harassed frequently.

The mother claimed her daughter had taken the chisel for "protection".

Today, the mother met the teacher and apologised to her for their behaviour and they parted on a conciliatory note, police said.

No case had been filed against the woman, they said.
