Srinagar: The night temperature in Kashmir dipped by several degrees even as the day temperature appreciated.

The summer capital Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 1.7 degrees Celsius last night, over a degree down from the Sunday night's 2.9 degrees Celsius, an official of the MET Department said.

He said Pahalgam in south Kashmir recorded a low of minus 4.3 degrees Celsius, as against minus 0.5 degrees Celsius on Sunday.

The minimum temperature in Gulmarg settled at minus 5.4 degrees Celsius, from the previous night's minus 11.2 degree Celsius, he said.

The gateway town of Qazigund recorded the minimum temperature of minus 0.1 degrees Celsius, he said, adding the minimum in Kokernag settled at a low of minus 0.7 degrees Celsius.

The spokesman said Kupwara in north Kashmir recorded a low of 0.6 degree Celsius.

Leh in cold desert region of Ladakh recorded a low of minus 10.8 degrees Celsius, a drop of six notches from minus 4.8 degrees Celsius on Sunday, he said.

He said the minimum in Kargil town, also in Ladakh region, settled at a low of minus 12.0 degrees Celsius against the Sunday night's low of minus 8.4 degree Celsius.
