Spot-fixing case: ICC bans for tainted Pak trio

Doha: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has imposed bans on the Pakistan cricketers Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir who are at the centre of spot-fixing allegations.

While Salman Butt has been banned for 10 years by ICC, fast bowlers Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir have been slapped with bans of 7 and 5 years respectively.

Earlier on Saturday, the three Pakistan players were charged by the UK Crown Prosecution Service with conspiracy to obtain and accept corrupt payments, and conspiracy to cheat.

The spot-fixing allegations had rocked the Lord's Test against England last August.
