Sharath Kamal wins Egypt Open
New Delhi: Olympian Achanta Sharath Kamal clinched his second successive international title after stunning top seed Li Ching of Hong Kong 4-0 in the final of the Egypt Open table tennis championships in Cairo on Sunday.

Sixth seed and world number 76, Sharath, who won US Open crown at Michigan earlier this month, was at his dominating best as the Indian didn't give his rival any chance in his 11-7, 11-9, 11-8, 11-4 victory.

Sharath and Ching had met twice previously in world ranking events and on both occasions the Hong Kong players had won comfortably.

In December 2005 in the first stage of the Asian Cup, Li Ching won in four games, while in February 2009, he beat the Indian in straight games at the Salwa Cup Kuwait Open.

But on Sunday was different as the Indian saw his chances and grabbed the opportunity with both hands to emerge winner and also became the first Indian to win a ITTF Pro Tour singles title.

Earlier in the day, the lanky paddler survived several anxious moments before getting past Jiang Tianyi of Hong Kong 4-1 to reach the final.

In the quarterfinals, Sharath had defeated French Salifou Abdel-Kader 4-3.
