Mary Kom aims for Olympic gold
Mumbai: The Asian Games loss was heart breaking but five-time world champion MC Mary Kom said she has put the past behind her and is working towards achieving the ultimate dream of winning an Olympic gold medal.

The pugilist, who won her five world titles in the 48 kg category, participated in the 51 kg category for the first time in the recently concluded Asiad, where she lost her semi-final bout to China's Ren Cancan.

"Yes I can say that I am putting on weight and I have graduated to the 51 kg category but it is not very difficult.

Asian Games was like a learning experience for me. Though I could just win the bronze there I want to win a gold at the Olympics and that's what I am working for," she said.

Kom, however, indicated that poor refereeing had cost her the gold medal in the Asian Games.

"In the semifinal bout I still remember that Chinese girl was committing a lot of faults but the referee didn't say anything. Though it was a learning experience for me. This time I lost but I will surely defeat her next time," she added.

The 27-year-old mother of two, who was in the city to announce EdelGive Foundation's support to Olympic Gold Quest (OGQ), felt that woman boxers too deserved a foreign coach, like their male counterparts.

"Even we deserve a foreign coach like men. Actually I am not looking at any particular coach. OGQ is helping me with it. But we actually like training with the foreign coach who can teach us something new. I have been training with the national coach for the past 10 years. But now I need a change as the training is stagnating," she said.
