UAE charity organisation opens orphanage in Karnataka

Dubai: A UAE-based charity organisation has opened an orphanage in Karnataka to house more than 200 orphans and provide them education along with social and psychological care.

The Sharjah Charity Association has funded a 3-story orphanage at a cost of USD 190,579 in Kulem that provides housing, health, educational and cultural services for orphans.

The second phase is yet to be constructed to provide housing units for teachers, a healthcare centre, a kitchen and dinner hall, Mohammed Hamdan Al-Zarri head of projects at the Association said. They have also called for donations for the second phase of the project, UAE's official news agency Wam reported.

The association recently distributed infant formula to 120,000 Somali children as part of its 'Help Them' humanitarian campaign to assist Somalia and other countries in the Horn of Africa region.
