The tenth session of the Kerala Legislative Assembly today began amid protests over LPG price hike and solar scam.

The Left Democratic Front (LDF), the main opposition party in Kerala, shouted slogans and raised placards during the Governor's address to the House, demanding a roll back of the hike.

They also demanded the inclusion of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy within the terms of reference given for the judicial enquiry into the solar scam.

Meanwhile, a dawn-to-dusk strike was observed across Kerala by nearly 1.25 lakh small and medium scale hotels opposing the LPG price hike. The Kerala Hotel and Restaurant Association said that the hoteliers have been bearing the brunt of the hikes and have been forced to increase their prices.

For each LPG cylinder the hotels buy, they have to spend Rs 420 extra after the recent hike.
